About this Event

Tongs at the ready! We’re celebrating BBQ week with a special event hosted by Genevieve Taylor and Murf of the Beefy Boys for our next instalment of our Kitchen Stories series.

Genevieve is a live-fire expert, founder of The Bristol Fire School, and the author of fourteen cookbooks including Charred, Seared, Scorched, The Ultimate Wood Fired Oven Cookbook and Foolproof BBQ. An omnivore on a mission, she teaches that anything can be cooked over fire and spends her downtime outdoors with her dogs, allotment and loud music.

In her new book How to BBQ, Genevieve Taylor shares her secrets for creating exceptional outdoor food, from building a fire and choosing fuel to essential fire‑cooking techniques. She answers the top barbecue questions and offers beginner recipes, then guides readers through quick grills, slow cooks, one‑pots and feasts, ensuring success with any equipment.

The Beefy Boys’ story starts when they were barbecuing in Hereford before entering Grillstock for fun, winning Best Burger and then placing second at the World Food Championships. Demand soared, leading to restaurants, a food truck and national awards. Today, they serve top‑quality, fun, no‑nonsense burgers while staying true to their laid‑back roots.

In their new book The Beefy Boys’ Great British BBQ, they’re trying to change the perception of barbecues in Blighty. With recipes for everything from smoky roasts to low-and-slow ribs, chops, steaks and (of course) burgers, all tastes and appetites get the Beefy Boys treatment. Taking inspiration from Britain’s long history of cooking over fire and the world-class culinary influences that have helped to shape modern Britain’s food culture, there’s something for everyone in this ultimate guide to live-fire cooking.
