About this Event

Join Hazel McBride at Waterstones TCR for an evening celebrating the publication of A Queen Crowned in Flames. Hazel will be in conversation with TCR favourite: Marvellous Michael Anson, for what will make for an essential Romantasy date for your calendar. Don’t miss out!

THE SEARING ROMANTASY PHENOMENON CONTINUES
Revenge is a fire that burns bright in the epic finale of the Sunday Times bestselling duology that began with A Fate Forged in Fire.
Aemyra Daercathian is a queen on the run. Having failed to take Àird Lasair and betrayed by her husband - whom she grew to trust and was beginning to fall for during her time in captivity - Aemyra is forced to retreat with a raging desire for revenge. But before she can settle the score and fulfill a sacred promise to K*ll Fiorean, her forces must rest and replenish their strength.
No one can know the truth.
Even though Aemyra has a fierce dragon and a large army of elemental wielders called Dùileach standing behind her, she has lost what's most important to her - her fire magic. Haunted by her love for her enemy, and unsure if she is even goddess-blessed anymore, Aemyra vows to do right by her people. Even if that means she must make a new kind of alliance, one that could mean winning back her kingdom. At a cost to her heart...
From the ashes, Aemyra must emerge as a new kind of queen, but will she be the dawn for her people or the fire that burns everything to the ground .

Hazel McBride grew up in Scotland, gaining her BSc in Psychology at the University of Glasgow, before moving to the Dominican Republic. Switching the laid-back Caribbean for the sun-drenched Canary Islands a year later, she then moved to the chic South of France and is now fluent in three languages.

As a former animal trainer, Hazel loves writing about magical and fantastical creatures while exploring their connections with her characters. As a bisexual author with anxiety, she focuses on writing queer characters and exploring topics such as mental illness within her work.

Now settled in the Netherlands with her Dutch husband, most of her work draws heavy inspiration from her Celtic heritage and Scottish folklore. After writing her first novel aged seventeen, she stopped believing it was just a hobby aged twenty seven and began writing freelance for publications like The Independent, What’s On, and lifestyle blogs.

Her fantasy fiction has gained a popular fan base across social media and she is currently working on a high fantasy romance series with Gaelic roots – oh, and dragons.

Marvellous Michael Anson, the best-selling author of Birthmarked, is devoted to giving her readers fast-paced, high-stakes stories that explore the multi-faceted human condition. She has been writing poems and short stories for over a decade, as well as directing short plays and being a writer’s favourite soundboard.

Marvel is not limited to the art of stringing words together; she wrote and produced her award-winning short film in 2016. She is a recipient of the 2017 AFRIFF Film School Scholarship Program.
