Meet at field 5 starting at 12 PM on 11/7! ⚾️I cannot believe I am writing this for year two. 💔
On Saturday, November 7th at 12 PM, we’ll be back at McDonald Park to spend another afternoon remembering and celebrating our Jarbear.
Two years without Jared.
Jarbear left us on 10/31/2024, and there are still no words big enough for what it means to live in a world without him in it. So instead of trying to find them, we’re going back to a place that holds so many pieces of him and doing something he loved: being at the field, surrounded by the people who love him.
McDonald Park has always been a part of Jared’s story. It’s where he played some Little League, played with his grandpa, his siblings, his nieces and nephews. It’s where he helped coach Brody’s teams. When Jared and Irelynn were tiny, it was known as the “spiderweb park” because of the spider web-looking play structure. Years later, it became the place where Mitch and I were married with our kiddos surrounding us.
And now, once a year, it’s a place where we can all come together and carry Jarbear with us. 💙
Just like last year, there’s no structure, no pressure. Just come as you are.
Bring your glove and get out on the field if you want to play.
Bring a bat and take some swings.
Or grab a spot on the bleachers and sit with me.
Tell a Jared story we’ve heard 100 times or one we’ve never heard before. We’ll laugh, cry, hug, and hold space for everything in between.
Stay for ten minutes or stay all afternoon.
Just come love him with us.

What to Bring (If You’d Like):
⚾ A glove or bat if you want to play (also not required to play!)
🥤 Snacks, water, or drinks
🪑 A folding chair or blanket
💙 And most importantly, just yourself
I would give anything not to have a reason for this tradition. But if we have to live all these years without him, then we’re going to keep saying his name. We’re going to keep telling his stories. We’re going to keep showing up at the field.
Let’s carry him with us, in the dirt, under the sky, in every #11, and in all the love that keeps bringing us back together.
