Ever watched a street band and thought, I wish I could do that...
Now is your chance!
Bay Batucada is thrilled to announce our upcoming Beginner’s Workshop for 2026.
Whether you think you have zero rhythm or you’re a secret air-drummer, this 8-week course is designed to take you from the very basics to playing high-energy Brazilian-style percussion in our music group.
Join a vibrant community, shake off some mid-week stress, and learn to play the loud, infectious rhythms of samba.
THE DETAILS
• Starts: Wednesday, 17 June 2026
• Duration: 8 weeks (every Wednesday)
• Time: 7:30pm - 9:30pm
• Location: Pacific Surf Lifesaving Club, Marine Parade, Napier
• Cost: $60
WHY JOIN US?
• No experience required.
We start from scratch. If you can count to four, you can join the band!
• Instruments provided.
We supply the gear. You just need to bring your own hearing protection.
• Community focus.
Meet a diverse group of locals and become part of a fun, supportive team.

By the end of the 8 weeks, you'll have the skills to join the main band, and even perform at an upcoming event!
