This screening of ‘Living Proof: A Climate Story’ (2021), is the second in an event series celebrating 50 years of Scotland's film archive at Kelvin Hall.
This creative documentary explores Scotland's complex relationship to the climate crisis through archive footage and shows how our environment has been shaped by the demand for energy, industry and growth.
Director Emily Munro frames Scotland's post-war history through the lens of the climate debate by revisiting the promises of the past. Was climate change inevitable? Can we break free from a boom-and-bust mentality? What sort of transformation is needed to ensure a sustainable future?
The film features contemporary music by Louise Connell, Brownbear, and Post Coal Queen.
The screening will be introduced by director and curator, Emily Munro.
