About this Event

Based on the extraordinary events of August 2023, the film brings to life Operation Synytsia, a daring and unprecedented mission carried out by Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence (HUR). During the operation, a Russian military pilot flew a modern Mi-8 military transport helicopter into Ukrainian-controlled territory, bringing with him classified equipment of considerable value to Ukrainian intelligence.
Blending the intrigue of a spy thriller with the suspense of a detective story, the intensity of an action film, and the emotional depth of a human drama, the film delivers a gripping tale of courage, conscience, and the choices that define us.
Acclaimed actor and filmmaker Akhtem Seitablaiev stars in the film, portraying Maksym, a Mi-8 military helicopter pilot with the call sign “Sikora,” whose journey becomes intertwined with a high-stakes Ukrainian intelligence operation.
Raised by his military grandfather, Maksym has always been guided by his own moral compass rather than blind obedience. When Russia launches its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he does not immediately take up the fight. But as the atrocities committed by Russian forces in Bucha, Irpin, and the Donetsk region come to light, remaining silent is no longer an option.
What unfolds is more than a story of war. It is a powerful portrait of one man's inner transformation as he confronts a choice that grows more urgent with each passing day: remain a bystander or find the courage to resist.
THE FILM IS IN UKRAINIAN WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES.
