PEOPLE WHO WERE NEVER MEANT TO EXISTOpening of the Month of Remembrance at Toloka
📅 November 7, 6:30 PM
📍 Toloka 1940 124th Ave NE, Offices A108/109 Bellevue, WA 98005
Our families were meant to vanish alongside the millions of Ukrainians whom starvation was used to destroy. But someone survived. Someone saved a child. Someone endured the unimaginable and passed life on to the next generation.
Join us at Toloka on November 7 at 6:30 PM for the opening of the Month of Remembrance, “People Who Were Never Meant to Exist.”
This project shares the family stories of people who survived Ukraine’s man-made famines, as told by their descendants.
In 2024, we brought these stories together in one space for the first time. This year, the project returns with new accounts from families who continue to preserve the memory of what their loved ones endured.
Behind every story is a person who survived. Behind every survivor are children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Entire generations that might never have existed.
This project is about memory passed down through families. About experiences that continue to shape the generations that follow. And about people whose very existence today bears witness to the endurance of Ukrainian families despite attempts to destroy them.
We invite you to come, read these stories, spend time together, and remember those who made our lives today possible.
The Month of Remembrance, “People Who Were Never Meant to Exist,” will continue throughout November.
Because behind every survivor are generations of people who were never meant to exist.

(Toloka) 1940 124th Ave NE, Offices A108/109 Bellevue, WA 98005
