'Tis the season to light the Quay!The ƛuukʷatquuʔis Harbour Quay Light-Up is an arts and culture focused celebration of lights hosted by the Alberni Arts council, a registered Charity. We are able to provide Charitable Tax Receipts for donations, both cash and in-kind with invoice.
We honor the Nuu-Chah-Nulth place name in the name of the event, ƛuukʷatquuʔis meaning Wolf Ritual Beach.
A huge thank you to the sponsors we have confirmed for this event so far! The Port Alberni Port Authority, Alberni Co-Op, Tseshaht Forestry Corporation, Tseshaht First Nation, and Rim Rock Casino. This event is also funded by grants from the British Columbia Arts Council, the City of Port Alberni Community Investment Program, and the Alberni Valley Tourism Association micro grant.
A big thank you to Community Futures and Five Acre Co. who are providing fantastic services for the event itself. And finally, we want to shout out all the participating Harbour Quay businesses who are taking part, including The Quay Lounge, The Donut Shop, Munch, Jus, Landos Sandos, All Mex'd Up, and Forage Thrift Store.
The event is taking place Saturday November 28th from 5PM – 7:30PM and features:
🎄 The lighting of the holiday tree at 6:15PM
🎅 Pictures with Santa
🙌 A welcome from c̓išaaʔatḥ and Hupačasath First Nations, with c̓išaaʔatḥ Long House
🌟Choirs and the ADSS band
🌟Light parade featuring hand-made lanterns, pet parade and bike parade
🌟Sound services and a large-scale light projection by Five Acre Co.
🌟A Youth Market hosted by Community Futures
🌟Alberni Pacific Railway holiday train ride with Mrs. Claus
🌟Free hot chocolate provided by the Quay Lounge and Munch
🌟Free donuts provided by the Donut Shop
🌟Amazing discounts at businesses such as 50 coupons for 15% off fruit cups with chocolate ganache at Jus & first 50 people get 10% off at Forage Thrift
🌟Storefront decorating contest for our Harbour Quay businesses
🌟Schools wreath-decorating contest and raffle baskets to raise funds for the festival
🌟Crafts for kids
🌟Community groups such as Makerspace, ArtRave & More!
