Fred has a lot on his mind. The origins of the universe, for starters. The fabric of spacetime, too. The formation of the Earth, plate tectonics, the fossil record, gravitational waves, dark matter, winding valley roads, campfires, pottery cafes—the list goes on and on. There's also the matter of the giant salty egg, the man in the comfy blue chair, and the burning question: "Is this good? What I'm doing? With mine? My time?"
This ecstatic, bittersweet, solo performance juxtaposes a love story with the scope of the cosmos and geology of Nova Scotia. Driven by Stewart Legere's captivating performance, accompanied by seamless video and sound design, the show runs 90 minutes and contains mature content and strong language.
It is a very personal story about the beginnings and endings of love, life, humanity and the cosmos, and an invitation to consider one's relationship with deep time, no matter what rocks you may find yourself on.
Developed in association with The Fundy Geological Museum, "Final Recordings..." had its premiere run at Eastern Front Theatre's 2025 Stages Festival. Performed, composed and sound designed by Stewart Legere, with projections by Christian Ludwig Hansen, lighting by Jessica Lewis, costumes, set and props by Leesa Hamilton, and directed by Ben Stone, 'Final Recordings...' is where TED Talk, sob story, and cottagecore collide.

Based in Kjipuktuk / Halifax, we aim to make extraordinary experiences that provoke the consideration of new perspectives and ideas. With each project we attempt to do something we don't know how to do and work with collaborators who bring new life experiences or skill sets to the table. We make shows for Halifax and for places far away, with the support of The Canada Council for the Arts, Arts Nova Scotia, and The Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage, and Halifax Culture and Events. Zuppa is a member of Theatre Nova Scotia and an affiliate member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres.
