Zouk Lab: Quality of Moves and Zouk Technique

In this course, we will deep dive into the quality of moves and Zouk technique. In this course, we go into a deeper level of technique, guided practice, feedback, and exercises to improve body awareness and connection. We will also be introducing some new moves to apply these technical concepts to. This course is recommended for Zoukers who want to improve the quality, feeling, and look of their dance and ensure that their dance feels comfortable, connected, and controlled.
Some focus areas:
- Presence and connection
- Following technique: breaking the anticipation, waiting
- Leader technique: minimizing confusion, improving clarity and confidence of moves, adaptability, preparation
- Head movement improvement: flow, control, technique, and delay
- Continuous vs. non continuous movement
- Staccato vs. legato concept (sharp vs. slow movements)
- Layers of basics: how to layer elements on top of basics to variate and spice them up
- Understanding weight transfers and leading based on structures
📅 Dates: Tuesdays from May 5-June 23
⏰ Time: 20:00-21:30 followed by a social / party
