Join us on Monday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. in YSU’s Ford Theater for the first Jazz Ensemble Concert of the season! The YSU Jazz Studies Area is proud to present the Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dr. Kent J. Engelhardt, as they celebrate the centennials of jazz legends Miles Davis and John Coltrane. The ensemble will perform “Lazy Bird” and “Naima” by John Coltrane, along with “My Ship” and “Nardis” by Miles Davis. The arrangement of “My Ship” was written by the late Dana School of Music faculty member Dr. David Morgan, while “Nardis” was arranged by YSU alumnus Mike Kamuf.
Vocalist Lizzie Jadue will also take the stage to perform “I’ve Got the World on a String” and “Who Cares,” as recorded by Helen O’Connell, as well as “I Can’t Get Started,” as recorded by Ella Fitzgerald.
Come experience an exciting night of live jazz and celebrate the talent of YSU’s music students. Admission is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
