About this Event
Youth are invited to join our monthly garden sessions. Our ultimate purposes are that:
~youth become leaders who will start and maintain community gardens in their prospective communities (i.e. families, schools, churches, etc.
~youth should be able to use similarities of growing a garden and growing money (financial literacy) for real-life application as entrepreneurship connects it all.
There will be a guest speaker facilitating each session on topics pertaining to gardening, such as composting, etc.
October 2026 - Guest Speaker: Kesha Jenkins, host of De Gullah Farmers Market in Awendaw, South Carolina, celebrating Gullah-Geechee heritage
All youth must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Adults must be accompanied by a youth, too, so youth advisors, teachers, gardeners, horticulturists, and vendors that cater to youth are invited as well.
L.E.E.L. is a non-profit of EC Youth. L.E.E.L. Initiative participants can register for EC Youth scholarships at the sessions.
Event sponsors, business and non-profit vendors, and food trucks/vendors are being accepted, along with sponsorship for children who are interested in participating in the L.E.E.L. Initiative (financial literacy education programs for youth).
For more information or to become a vendor or sponsor, contact Pleshette Grant at (843) 640-0467/(843) 303-6172 or [email protected].
