Young Birders Saturday Outing at Eagle Creek Park

Indiana Audubon, in partnership with Eagle Creek Park's Ornithology Center, is launching a first-Saturday Young Birders Outing series, running April through October. Meet at 10 a.m. ET outside the Eagle Creek Ornithology Center for a guided outing led by Sam Urquidez, Indiana Audubon's Bird Programs and Partnerships Manager. Bring binoculars if you have them; a curious pair of eyes works, too.

These outings are offered through the (IYBN), a program of Indiana Audubon. They are designed for young birders who want to learn more about birds and connect with others, and they're fully family-friendly.

The Ornithology Center opens at 10 a.m., and restrooms are available before and after the program. Plan to stick around afterward if you want to make a day of it: Skunk Saturdays with "Stinkerbell" take place at 1 p.m. at the Earth Discovery Center, and the Ornithology Center feeds their ambassador birds at 2:30 p.m.

Note: On Saturday, July 4, the Ornithology Center will be closed.

We'll walk on park trails, with distance and route varying by season and group needs. The pace will be comfortable with frequent stops for viewing and discussion. Trail surfaces may include pavement, boardwalk, grass, dirt, or compacted gravel, and may be uneven or muddy depending on conditions.

This drop-in activity is free with park admission. Pre-registration is entirely optional but appreciated.
