Be the Bison, Face Your Storm
Caregiving can feel like a job you are never allowed to step away from. The endless appointments, therapies, medications, advocacy, and decisions can leave you feeling like everything depends entirely on you. After 19 years in constant fight-or-flight mode, author, filmmaker, and advocate Jess Ronne experienced total burnout.
Through honesty, humor, and hope, Jess shares her personal journey through caregiver burnout to rebuilding a life filled with purpose. She encourages caregivers to stop running from their storms and face them like the bison: head-on.
What We Will Explore:
* Overcoming the Obstacles: Why accepting help feels so difficult and how to move past the guilt or fear of burdening others.
* Navigating Overwhelming Stress: Practical strategies for facing life's fiercest storms and embracing grace when plans change.
* Identifying Your Circle: How to find and trust the people who can truly walk alongside you.
* Sustaining Yourself: Shifting your mindset to see that receiving help isn't a sign of weakness—it is a necessary strategy to protect your family and yourself.
About the presenter: Jess Ronne is an author, speaker, podcast host at Coffee with Caregivers, associate producer of the Unseen and Uncertain Documentaries, and caregiver advocate. She is founder of The Lucas Project, a non-profit dedicated to providing recognition and resources for caregivers and Hope Farm, an assisted living home for disabled individuals. She and her husband Ryan live in Michigan with their 8 children, including their son Lucas who has profound disabilities. Her story of beauty from ashes has been shared on The Today Show, Daily Mail and Huffington Post and is detailed in her memoir Sunlight Burning at Midnight.
