Think you can’t draw? Then this workshop is for you.‘You Can Draw’ is a relaxed, fun and inspiring 3-hour workshop designed especially for complete beginners, or anyone who feels unsure about their drawing skills. No experience or materials needed, so just bring your curiosity and a willingness to have a go!
Resident artist Mel Langton will ease you into the session with some playful, pressure-free exercises designed to loosen you up, quiet your inner critic and get you seeing in a new way. These fun activities not only help put everyone on the same level, but will also help you dispel any misconceptions about your drawing abilities. You will discover that yes, you can draw too!
From there, you’ll be guided through drawing a curated still life using simple techniques to help you:
break objects down into easy shapes
understand proportion in a natural, intuitive way
build confidence in your mark-making
In the final part of the session, Mel will help you to bring your drawings to life with colour, pattern and personal style, encouraging experimentation to create expressive, joyful results.
This workshop aims to help you leave any perfectionism at the door, instead focusing on enjoying the process, surprising yourself, and discovering that you can draw.
You’ll leave with:
a finished piece of artwork
new creative skills and techniques
renewed confidence to keep drawing
All materials are provided, and groups are kept small to ensure a supportive, personal and welcoming atmosphere.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available during the session.
