Veterans Day -November 11, 2026- The Story Begins...
On Veterans Day, November 11, 2026, as our nation commemorates its 250th anniversary, the Walk In Art Center invites Schuylkill County residents to sit down with a veteran in their lives and preserve a story. Throughout the day, veterans will be invited to participate in recorded interviews conducted by a family member, friend, student, neighbor, or other person of their choosing. Participants of all ages are welcome to serve as interviewers. A rain date will be scheduled to accommodate participants who are unable to attend on November 11.
Each interview will be recorded in a comfortable, thoughtfully designed setting at the Walk In Art Center. Interviews will be scheduled throughout the day to allow each conversation the time and attention it deserves. The recording itself becomes the artifact.
Every participating veteran and family will receive a copy of their recorded interview, creating a personal record that can be kept and passed from one generation to the next. With the permission of the veteran and participants, selected recordings or excerpts may also become part of a larger community exhibition at the Walk In Art Center in January 2027.
