About this Event
Guided by the skilled, enthusiastic practitioners of Yorkshire Tatreez you will choose a beautiful motif to stitch and mount on a notebook. We'll help you connect with this centuries-old practice, rooted in story-telling, cultural memory and identity. Tatreez is embroidery - yet more! It's a visual language passed through generations of Palestinian women, expressing individual, village and regional identity, capturing heritage of life lived on the land. In 2021, UNESCO added this meaningful art form to its Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Start (or continue) your own tatreez journey with us at The Cambridge Festival of Islamic Art.
About The Cambridge Festival of Islamic Arts
The Cambridge Festival of Islamic Arts runs from 19 to 29 November 2026, bringing performances, exhibitions, lectures, and workshops to Cambridge's historic colleges, museums, and cultural spaces. Open to everyone, the festival celebrates the beauty and diversity of Islamic arts, and, fifty years on from the landmark 1976 World of Islam Festival, carries that spirit into our own time.
