About this Event
September 10th 2026, marked an important moment for York Region’s nonprofit sector with the launch of the York Region Underfunding Study at York Regional Council. Thank you to the many organizations and community leaders who joined us in-person and virtually, and helped demonstrate the strength of our sector.
More to do:
It was an incredibly successful day, with one of the messages we heard repeatedly being: we should be doing this more often.
The launch demonstrated what is possible when York Region nonprofits come together around a shared issue, speak collectively about the needs of our communities, and engage decision-makers with a strong, evidence-based voice.
A Nonprofit Network:Many of us have been discussing how we can build on this momentum through the development of a York Region Nonprofit Network: an independent, non-partisan network that brings together nonprofit organizations from across York Region to strengthen our sector, build our collective capacity, and advance shared priorities.
The nonprofits working on the underfunding study have gone as far as writing up a draft Terms of Reference for a Network, which can be reviewed here. Please feel free to give feedback on the proposed draft, leaving you name and organization in the comment.
To help things move forward we would like to invite organizations from across the Region to continue that conversation, and if we all want to move forward, officially launch a York Region Nonprofit Network.
If you have any questions or feedback please contact Sean Meagher and Azreen Sikder at [email protected]
We look forward to seeing you on October 7th!
