The 5 Elements Series: Wintering with Water Yin + Acupuncture
Some seasons invite us to do less.
Winter is a natural time for slowing down, turning inward, and conserving our energy. Join Carmen Torbus of Soul Moves Yoga and Dr. Cynthia Huszar Caputo of Acupuncture Healing Arts for a 90-minute experience blending Yin Yoga, acupuncture, and the wisdom of the Water Element.
In traditional East Asian medicine, Water is associated with winter, the Kidney system, and Zhi, a concept connected to willpower, determination, and perseverance.
We often think of perseverance as pushing forward. Water offers another perspective: strength can also be found in stillness. In knowing when to conserve your energy, replenish your reserves, and allow yourself to rest.
Carmen will guide you through a grounding 50-minute Yin practice inspired by the qualities of Water, creating space to soften, turn inward, and explore strength without force.
From there, you'll settle into an extended final rest while Cynthia offers a gentle three-needle acupuncture treatment designed to complement the themes of the practice. You'll have time to simply receive, allowing the stillness of Yin and acupuncture to come together in one deeply restorative experience.
This gathering begins our exploration of the Five Elements through movement, stillness, and Chinese medicine, with Water meeting us exactly where winter asks us to be: a little quieter, a little slower, and turned inward.
