What an exciting day we have planned! On Saturday, November 7, we’re bringing FOUR major experiences together on one site at John P. “Top” Greene African American Cultural Park!1. Community Yard Sale
Clean out those closets, garages, and storage spaces! Community members can reserve a table and turn those gently used treasures into a little extra cash. This is a true community yard sale—not a vendor market.
2. History Harvest
You may have a piece of Black Raleigh history sitting in your home! Bring old photographs, programs, documents, memorabilia, and other treasures to be scanned and documented—or talk with us about donating historic materials you’re finally ready to part with. Don’t throw Raleigh's history away. Bring it. Share it. Preserve it. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE YARD SALE TO DO THE HISTORY HARVEST
3. Oral Histories
Sometimes the history isn’t in a box—it’s in YOU. We’ll be capturing oral histories and memories from community members who have stories to share about Black Raleigh, its neighborhoods, people, places, and experiences. Your memories can help preserve our collective story for future generations. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE YARD SALE TO DO THE ORAL HISTORIES
4. Move & Mingle with Darkness RISING
Come indoors for some movin’, groovin’, and old-school vibes with Raleigh’s well-known nonprofit Darkness RISING, an organization dedicated to supporting Black mental health and wellness. Take a break from shopping and history harvesting and enjoy some music, movement, and community!
Four experiences. One location. One day celebrating community, connection, and the preservation of Historic South Park, Southeast Raleigh and Historic Black communities.
