About this Event
Join us as the World War II Foundation hosts author Katie S. Sanders to discuss her and her co-author, Nicholas Reynolds' new book, "Ortiz's War" at the International World War II Museum in South Kingstown, RI on Wednesday, October 7th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.
The story of Peter J. Ortiz is quite extraordinary. He served in the French Foreign Legion, the United States Marines, and the O.S.S. Ortiz could speak a number of languages and even had a career in Hollywood after the war. Sanders and Reynolds explore the story of this amazing individual in "Ortiz's War" with an exhilarating style that promises to keep readers in suspense with each turn of the page.
Katie S. Sanders is an award-winning journalist who has published pieces in TIME, National Geographic, and the New York Times. She learned her grandfather was actually rescued by Peter J. Ortiz during WWII, which became the impetus for working on this project.
Nicholas Reynolds earned a PhD from Oxford University and has served in the U.S. Marine Corps and held the position of a CIA officer as well as a historian at the CIA Museum. He has written several books, the most recent titled "Need to Know, World War II and the Rise of American Intelligence".
