About this Event

Calling All Writers & Creatives 🗣️

Join us for Meeting No. 3 of the 2026-2027 workshop!

This year, our theme is Writing Across the Diaspora, where we're reading works by writers who highlight the joys and hardships of their cultural upbringing, experiment with a range of literary forms, and explore how ancestry and tradition shape our understanding of one's identity.

Join us for the third workshop of our literary programming as we explore the life and writing of Judith Cofer. Together, we’ll read her essay about her grandparents’ contrasting spiritual beliefs and how it impacts her understanding of faith and family values. This workshop is especially meaningful for our fellow Boris 🇵🇷

Each meeting offers writers the chance to engage in literary discussion, a writing activity and peer review.

Personal works to be workshopped must be inspired by the theme, “Writing Across the Diaspora” and be within 3 pages. Genres of works accepted for peer review include poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction and essays. No screenplays. Bringing a piece to be workshopped is not required.

📚 Mandatory Readings:

Judith Cofer, Silent Dancing: A Partial Remembrance of a Puerto Rican Childhood, Chapter 3: “Talking to the Dead”

Members receive access to all workshop readings for the literary year. Join our free W.W.A. membership
