COURSE DESCRIPTION
Tarot has inspired some of the world’s most iconic writers, including Stephen King, Sylvia Plath, Italo Calvino, and Shirley Jackson. Now it’s your turn to tap into the mystical power of the Tarot to unleash your creativity. In this course, author Dr. Erica Anzalone will provide a brief overview of the Major Arcana—the "keys"—to unlock your unconscious mind and harness boundless creativity.
Then, we’ll focus on two powerful cards: The Hermit, the card of 2025, and The Moon, which serves as The Hermit's teacher card. The Hermit illuminates the power of solitude, self-development, and the courage to stand alone. The Moon is our guide through mysteries, dreams, and the unconscious. Together, these cards hold the potential to help you break through creative blocks, deepen your writing, and align with your soul’s purpose.
We’ll read creative works that embody The Hermit and The Moon, and then write in response to generative prompts tailored to these archetypes. This class will include dedicated time for writing, sharing in a supportive community, and receiving expert feedback in a nurturing, encouraging environment.
Expect fresh ideas to bubble up from our collective cauldron as you connect with these archetypes, using them as a springboard for character development, imagery, and more. You'll walk away with at least three new drafts, as well as powerful insights and inspiration for the year ahead.
The class is open to writers of all genres and experience levels—no prior knowledge of Tarot is required. Just bring a Tarot deck (or access to Tarot images online) and an open mind.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, you will:
