historical fiction about an overlooked past.
About this Event
Diane M. Hinds talks about her novel, Conquerabia: The Struggle for Identity, a meticulously researched novel tracing the formative history of Trinidad-from its discovery in 1498 to its complex colonial later history.
Diane will discuss how historical research is transformed into compelling fiction, the challenges of bringing forgotten voices to life, and the stories that history books too often leave untold. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the journey behind this thought-provoking novel.
About the author:
Diane Hinds lived in Trinidad between 1975 and 1979 and drew on those years in writing her debut novel. Alongside her fiction she has spent more than thirty years as a public relations director working across music, publishing and broadcast, and she has taught PR skills to independent writers and small businesses.
