A Business (Financial) Case captures the reasoning for initiating a project or investment. Today, with investment capital for projects and innovations hard to come by, a business case has become a requirement for the release of funding for projects, whether private or public sector, whether from external sources, or from internal funding sources.

As a business leader, knowing how to write a business case is a critical skill to acquire. This practical course takes you through a systematic process of writing a financial case which provides convincing justification, for proposed investment in new equipment, new systems, acquisitions, major projects, and innovations.

Info: In this first session, we explore the nature of a successful business case, and their contribution and role in project management. We will look at case studies of both successful and failed major projects and you will learn about the format of successful business case. You will learn how to define the need for the business case for your project or planned new investment, and how to detail the nature of the problem addressed, explain the solution options and the potential benefits to be derived from investment, and likely challenges in implementation, and strategies to best manage the investment.

Info: In this second session, we explore the critical aspect of making the financial case. You will learn the principles of calculating payback including ROI, NPV, and IRR, and how to detail and quantify potential risks and to develop the essential information to enable decision making by key stakeholders.
