About this Event
#Merky Books and Reading Rhythms are coming to Birmingham for a free evening of writing, publishing and community.
Whether you’re halfway through a manuscript, have an idea you can’t stop thinking about, or simply want to meet more people who love writing, Writing Rhythms is for you.
For one night, #Merky Books is taking its New Writers’ Prize Writers’ Camp on the road, teaming up with Reading Rhythms to bring together aspiring writers and creatives from across Birmingham and beyond.
Expect an evening of conversation, practical advice, writing and connection with opportunities to hear from writers and publishing professionals, learn more about the industry, meet other people working on their craft and find out about the #Merky Books New Writers’ Prize.
Who is it for?
You don’t need to be published. You don’t need an agent. And you definitely don’t need to have everything figured out.
This evening is for aspiring and emerging writers at every stage, from people writing their first few pages to those already working on a full manuscript.
If you’ve got a story you want to tell, we’d love to see you there.

About Reading Rhythms
Reading Rhythms is a series of welcoming reading parties designed to make it easy for people to gather and read socially. We invite you to bring any book you want and facilitate silent reading periods, as well as 1-on-1 breakouts, and group discussions to pull on the threads of the books that everyone is engaging with.
In a world that can often feel devoid of interest and meaningful connection, we bring readers together to reconnect with our love of learning, to experience the wonder of beautiful venues and curated music, and to gather amongst all of the people who want to be in that very same room.
