On Saturday, Dec. 19, 2026, join other Allen-area residents to remember and honor more than 100 veterans laid to rest at Allen Cemetery on National Wreaths Across America Day. The mission of the national event is "to remember, honor and teach by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 3,400 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. One of those 3,400 additional location will be held at Allen Cemetery. This annual event is sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution, the General Bernardo de Galvez Chapter of Allen.
The Allen program will begin at 11:00am with Presentation of Colors, followed by a few short speakers, and a ceremonial wreath laying by members of each service branch. After this short program, patrons in attendance will participate by putting a wreath on the graves of the more than 100 veterans laid to rest at Allen Cemetery.
Children are more than welcome, as this is an excellent opportunity to teach them about history and the important contributions of veterans. We will provide small flags, coloring pages and crayons to younger children so they can feel truly included in the event.
