About this Event
Imagine that technology could create a perfect digital reconstruction of your mind—containing your memories, personality, emotions, values, and unique way of thinking. This digital person recognizes your family, remembers your childhood, and sincerely believes that it is you.
But would it truly be you—or only a remarkably convincing copy?
This question lies at the heart of mind uploading. If the biological brain remains alive after the upload, there would appear to be two versions of the same person. If the biological person later dies, does the digital version represent genuine survival, or does it merely continue the original person’s story?
During this meetup, we will explore personal identity, consciousness, memory, and continuity. We will compare different paths to uploading—from creating an instant digital copy to gradually replacing biological brain functions—and ask whether any method could preserve the continuous experience of being oneself.
Join us for a thoughtful but accessible conversation about one of the most profound questions raised by our technological future: If your mind continues in another form, have you survived?
