Spend an afternoon inside The Grand 1894 Opera House as the Galveston Symphony Orchestra presents the world premiere of a brand-new violin concerto by Music Director Trond Sæverud, commissioned especially for the GSO. Sæverud takes center stage as both violinist and conductor for one of the highlights of Season 48.The afternoon begins with the lively, theatrical energy of Nielsen’s Overture to Masquerade, followed by Sæverud’s world premiere. After intermission, the orchestra fills The Grand with Sibelius’ sweeping Fifth Symphony, building toward a soaring finale inspired by the sight of swans in flight.
