About this Event
The organisers gratefully acknowledge the generous support of Wiley and the journal , without which this event would not have been possible.
Join us in-person to explore animacy, technology, and ecology through philosophy.
We will be asking questions including: What is animacy? Why has it been overlooked or suppressed? What can we learn from indigenous philosophies? How can insights from animacy be promoted and applied to ecological crisis? What are the implications of animacy for our understanding of philosophical concepts of the self, intelligence, the human, and the posthuman?
We have a fantastic panel of experts who will discuss these themes and engage with audience questions.
We will also be launching a call for papers for a special edition on animacy with Future Humanities.
ALUMNI: From 17:00-17:55 before the main event begins, we will be hosting a reception for alumni who graduated from the UWE Philosophy programme. This will be an opportunity to catch-up with staff and old friends with free drinks. Please sign up with an alumni ticket if you're an alum who'd like to attend!
