🌍 Global East – Global South: Relations. Memory. KnowledgeWhat kinds of relationships connect the Global South and the Global East? How is collective memory shaped, how is knowledge generated, and how do cultural ties across regions evolve?
On October 7-9, 2026, the Institute of International Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague, will host an international workshop offering a space for interdisciplinary discussion on historical connections, decolonization, post-socialist transformations, cultural exchanges, and new perspectives that transcend the traditional East–West and North–South divisions.
The workshop is designed as an interactive forum based on discussion, collaboration, and the sharing of insights among researchers from various disciplines and regions.
Our keynote speaker will be Professor Jie-Hyun Lim, Full Professor of Transnational History and Director of the Critical Global Studies Institute at Sogang University in Seoul. He is internationally recognised for his pioneering work on the concepts of "Mass Dictatorship" and "Victimhood Nationalism". Professor Lim has authored and edited around two dozen books, including "Global Easts: Remembering, Imagining, Mobilizing" (2022), "Everyday Fascism" (2000), and "Victimhood Nationalism" (2021).
