Workshop Description:Playback Theatre is more than performance — it’s improv with a purpose. As a cornerstone of the Theatre for Social Change movement, this practice honors both the story and the storyteller. Though not therapy, it has a deeply restorative quality: it strengthens listening skills, sharpens your improvisational instincts, and builds ensemble trust through collaborative storytelling. In this workshop (and potential performance), you’ll learn the core stylizations and techniques of Playback Theatre, turning personal and shared stories into performances that connect, inspire, and empower.
About Ralph Krumins:
Ralph Krumins (Ivories Guy) is an international improv performer, educator, and collaborator with more than 20 years of experience. For the past decade, he has devoted himself to music directing long-form musical improv across Florida, the U.S., and abroad, working with ensembles such as Four First Names, Playback UCF, SAK Comedy Lab, Limboland, Solovela, and many more. In 2022, he launched his solo show, Ivories Guy, where he invites audiences to share true stories from their own lives and then transforms those moments into fully improvised, heartfelt songs on the spot—creating a space that is as playful and collaborative as it is moving.
The workshop is Saturday, October 10, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Third Space Improv in St. Augustine.
Registration: $50 advance / $60 door
