About this Event
Led by Swiss pianist and composer Nik Bärtsch, this workshop is open to anyone interested and will be tailored to the abilities of the participants. Drawing on Bärtsch’s distinctive approach to rhythm, movement and collective musical interaction, it explores focus, presence, contact and rhythm through a series of group exercises.
The session begins with a warm-up before moving into clapping and groove circles, using patterns and rhythm cycles to develop an awareness of flow, coordination and smooth movement. The goal of the workshop is to explore the relationship between mental presence and physical posture, offering a no-experience-necessary opportunity to learn some of the principles that underpin Bärtsch’s own musical practice and ultimately aiming to increase participants’ enjoyment of playing music, especially in a group.
