About this Event
A core training day for second year curates and open to all clergy and lay leaders, which can be undertaken as a stand-alone day or part of the Leadership & Collaboration topic (with 'Conflict Management' in March and 'Models of Leadership' in May). The day will be led by Revd Dr Grant Bayliss, Head of IME 2, with input from practitioners, including Anne Perry, PDA for Dorchester. The day will encourage participants to:
• Reflect on our own experiences of volunteering and deepen our appreciation of the role of volunteers in today’s church
• Consider what makes for good practice in terms of recruitment, retention, reward & relinquishing (‘the 4 Rs’).
• Draw on good safeguarding and HR practice from the Church and charity sector in relation to volunteers
• Explore models for team-building and recognising people’s gifts
• Be aware of basic coaching skills and their value in mentoring and empowering others
• Consider how best to be inclusive towards all volunteers and ministers, with a particular attention to neurodivergency
For more information, contact Revd Dr Grant Bayliss, Head of IME2: [email protected]. The programme and joining instructions will be sent out a week beforehand and usually involves about half an hour of preparation. Please aim to arrive from 9.30am and remember to bring a packed lunch.
