Discover how fun and approachable ceramics can be in this hands‑on workshop focused on building with clay slabs. Slab construction is a versatile technique used to create functional pieces like mugs, bowls, vases, and more—making it a perfect entry point for anyone curious about clay. You’ll learn how to work with slabs and templates to design and build your own functional ceramic piece, exploring hand‑building techniques that encourage creativity and experimentation.
Whether you’re brand-new to clay or already have some experience, this workshop offers a welcoming space to learn, play, and make something you’ll be proud to use at home. All clay, tools, and firing fees are included. Once fired, your finished piece will be ready for pickup at Arlene’s in 3–4 weeks. A great choice for makers who love functional art, enjoy tactile processes, or want to try something new this season.
NOTE: For all administrative questions—such as registration issues, cancellations, or workshop attendance—please contact Arlene’s directly. Instructors are not responsible for handling these matters. You can reach us at [email protected] or call during store hours at (518) 482-8881.
Our courses are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy and participate in our classes.
