About this Event
This course has been developed to enable practitioners to consider how to work in ways that take into consideration the additional barriers black and minoritised survivors experience in accessing services.
The training is suitable to any worker or volunteer who may have contact with someone experiencing domestic abuse. This includes practitioners, managers, strategists, commissioners and volunteers.
Delegates will:
- Improve awareness of barriers for black and minoritised survivors accessing domestic abuse services
- Explore the experiences of black and minoritised survivors to gain insight into how services can improve responses
- Identify support strategies and general good practice for responding to black and minoritised survivors
- Identify how all services can work towards ensuring services are more accessible
This course does not explore supporting migrant or refugee survivors in depth (e.g. Legal contexts or Migrant Victims Domestic Abuse Concession).
Please be aware that this session contains in-depth information on different types of domestic abuse. This may be impacting for some delegates. If you are concerned about the potential impact of the content the training team can provide you with an overview of the session. Though we provide as much support as possible before, during and after the session – take time to consider if this is the right session for you. Our alternative course Introduction to domestic abuse is also available for a less in-depth overview.
Information about points of contact and support options are provided during and after the session.
