AI Data Center Resistors!Let's work to make sure data centers stay out of Champaign County - working groups will be meeting in the Champaign Public Library's Robeson Pavilion room C. Our correspondence, FOIA, and community engagement groups will be gathering together to take action!
Correspondence - (contacts: Nancy Dietrich and Cele Otnes):
-Contacts legislators and local officials (county, cities, area towns, and villages) via emails and postcards to express concerns and ask questions about AI hyperscale data centers.
-Provides postcards, stamps, templates, and addresses for easy correspondence.
FOIA (contact: Antonia Herbstreit):
-Makes FOIA requests to uncover email correspondence between government officials and data centers developers in the villages, towns, and municipalities in the county
-Participants learn how to construct easy-to-learn email requests to get the best results.
Community engagement (contacts: Tabitha Qualls-Rapier and Bryana Davis)
-Determining county board members' positions on data centers and preparing a voting guide for future elections
-Planning to gather and disseminate testimonials from local citizens throughout the county regarding concerns about and activism against data centers
-Prepares press releases about our group's activities
-Oversees production and dissemination of yard signs and plans to create window signs
-Prepares fact sheets to distribute
See you there, Champaign County!
