🕊️WORDS OVER WEAPONS – POP UP POETRY 🕊️“My subject is War, and the pity of War. The Poetry is in the pity.” — Wilfred Owen
In a world where conflict and division dominate the headlines, perhaps now more than ever, we need to make space for peace, humanity and hope. 🕊️
Join us for a thought-provoking evening exploring three of Wilfred Owen’s most powerful poems:
📖 Futility – questioning the loss of life.
📖 Dulce et Decorum Est – exposing the brutal reality of war.
📖 Anthem for Doomed Youth – remembering the young lives lost to conflict.
💬 Through conversation, debate and shared reflections, we’ll explore how Owen’s words still resonate today.
✍️ Then it’s our turn to write!
Inspired by the poetry and our discussions, we’ll put pen to paper and create a little poetry of our own.
No experience needed — just an open mind, your thoughts and a willingness to share.
❤️ More than poetry, this is about finding our voices, listening to one another and remembering that peace matters.
