Lavender Horizons Events is back at it again with our second open mic night, "Word Playful!" For this open mic, we encourage you to bring poetry, music, and anything else that doesn't just engage with language, but plays with it! Bring us your weird rhyme schemes, your unconventional forms—poems where you ask if we’d still love you if you were a worm and ones that made sense in a dream. Songs that sound like poems, and poems that sound like songs. Your punny, and your funny, and your lyrical and satirical. Poems that use words you don't hear often, or used in that way. Words that are made-up entirely, or just really fun to say! Work that remixes words that have already been said and then churns up their meanings and spits them out on their head!
So often we think about poetry in particular as needing to be heavy and serious, but poetry is art, and so much of art is play! Consider this your invitation to come play with us! Event hosted by Thaddeus Cramer. Special guest performers TBA soon! Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the open mic will start at 7:00.
