Escape to Cape Cod for a cozy spring weekend of wool, creativity, connection, and renewal. At The Charm on Main, a chic, adults-only boutique property of Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster, we'll explore the pleasures of knitting alongside the restorative qualities of natural fibers, beautiful surroundings, great food, and time away.
With shepherdess and yarn shop owner Amanda Barcenas of Prado de Lana, we'll discover the unique qualities of different sheep breeds and how fiber influences the way yarn feels, knits, drapes, and wears. You'll then put your new wool knowledge into practice by choosing a beautiful, breed-specific yarn and beginning the Echo Small Shawl by Kate Larson, a simple and elegant project for knitters of all levels.
And there's plenty more to nourish you throughout the weekend: yoga, a floating sound bath, spa time, delicious meals, and plenty of space to relax and enjoy Cape Cod.

Did you know that wool carries its own electromagnetic frequency? Wool has one of the highest vibrations of all natural fibers. No wonder it feels so good to wear and wrap ourselves up in! In this session, you'll learn all about the amazing and beneficial properties of wool and how it just makes you feel better. You'll also get to know Amanda Barcenas of Prado de Lana and learn about her very special flock of sheep in the Berkshires.

9:30 – 11:30am Retreat Session: The Feel of Wool
Let's dive into different breeds of wool and discover all of their beautiful characteristics. From feel to stitch definition, to drape, to perfect projects, this session will make you into a breed specific wool connoisseur. All you need is a pair of size US 6 needles.

1:00 – 4:00pm Free time / Spa Time
4:00 – 5:30pm Retreat Session: Wearing Wellbeing
Let's put all of your breed knowledge into practice! Participants will get to choose from different breed specific wool to make the Echo Small Shawl by Kate Larson. A simple project for all knitting levels, the focus is on the feel, the drape, and the stitch definition of the yarn that each participant chooses.

Amanda Barcenas is a shepherdess and yarn shop owner in Stockbridge, MA, in the Berkshires. Her flock of sheep consists of Romney, Lincoln Longwool, and Romeldale/CVM. She and her husband, Alberto and kids, Sam and Noelia, have been raising sheep for twelve years. She recently opened a yarn shop in the historic train station in Stockbridge.
