On this special October edition of our Woodruff Place walking tour, join lantern-carrying guides for a twilight stroll through Woodruff Place featuring extra spooky insights, neighborhood lore, and haunting historical tales.Known as the city’s first planned residential suburb, entrepreneur James O. Woodruff created the upscale, park-like neighborhood in 1872 with tree-lined esplanades and Victorian-era architecture that today feels straight out of central casting. On a 90-minute guided walking tour, learn about Woodruff Place’s fascinating history and unique cultural importance, recognized in 1972 when it became Indianapolis’ first neighborhood listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This outdoor walking tour departs from Woodruff Place Town Hall (735 Woodruff Place East Drive, Indianapolis). Groups will cover approximately 1.5 miles over the course of 90 minutes.

Tickets cost $20/general public, $17/Indiana Landmarks member, $15/child (ages 6-11), and are free to children age 5 and under.
