About this Event
The earliest pottery items so far uncovered are animal figurines dating from 30,000 years ago. In this workshop you will learn how to pinch and shape pieces of sanded terracotta clay to create small animal forms, hopefully capturing movement and character.
What’s in Store?
• Arrival and introduction – 10 minutes
• Demonstration of using pinch-forming techniques to create a fox form by Pottery Throw Down finalist, David Short – 20 minutes
• Create your animal figures. Dave will be on hand to guide and encourage you. You will have time to make a number of figurines, giving you the opportunity to develop and refine your skills. You will choose your best 4 to be fired – 90 minutes
After the session you will leave your figurines with Dave, who will professionally fire and glaze them. These can either be collected from Gorcott Hill or Dave's workshop in Evesham. If you can't collect then he can post them to you once they’re ready. This iccurs an additonal cost of £8.
