About this Event
September is National Bourbon Heritage Month, designated as a salute to America’s “native spirit.” And Woodford Reserve is a perfect partner for it, thanks to the distillery’s long history.
The distillery now known as Woodford Reserve Distillery is one of the oldest distilleries in Kentucky, dating back to 1838. (And distilling first started on the site back in 1812!) It didn’t become Woodford Reserve until much later, but the brand quickly became known for its approachable complexity.
Woodford Reserve uses a unique combination of pot still and column still distillation, plus their fermentation time is the longest in the industry. Those factors, along with their unique yeast strain, create the depth and complexity of Woodford. And, fun fact, the master distiller is a woman (Elizabeth McCall)!
Our event will start with a welcome cocktail, then we’ll pair the following whiskeys with different chocolates! Except for the Double Oaked, which will be paired with a Woodford chocolate chip cookie!
- Woodford Reserve - the classic Kentucky Straight bourbon, made with a mashbill of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. On the nose are notes of mint and oranges covered with cocoa; with a rich, chewy palate with notes of citrus, cinnamon, and cocoa, with toffee, caramel, and chocolate.
- Double Oaked - a twice-barreled bourbon matured in separate, charred oak barrels. On the nose are notes of dark fruit, caramel, sharp honey, chocolate, marzipan, and toasted oak; on the palate are notes of vanilla, dark caramel, hazelnut, apple, fruit, and spices.
- Double Oaked Single Barrel Select - a unique single barrel of the above whiskey, perfect to compare how different ABVs affect the taste of whiskey!
- Woodford Rye - a pre-prohibition style rye with a 53% rye mashbill. On the nose are notes of black pepper, cedar oak sweetened with a dusting of marzipan, hints of pear, and almond. On the palate are notes of clove, mint, molasses, and honey with hints of apple and malt.
Bottles will be available for purchase and an engraver will be on site if you want to personalize them. (Engraved bottles make awesome gifts, if you’re in need of one!)
And Brownstone Tavern has a full menu of food if you need something before (or after) the event!
This will be a fun, laid-back event that’s perfect for first timers and wWw veterans alike. Tickets are limited, so jump on them!
Ladies and non-binary only, please. Tickets required to attend. Must be 21 or older. Please drink responsibly.
