Join Serena Fennell and Caroline Nicola for a special New Moon Contact Improv gathering by the ocean.
The Elements Moving The Body
We’ll be playing with the elements of the earth and sea within our dance as we move with the physics of nature. Together we’ll play with weight, flow, and connection as nature supports our dance.
All levels are welcome, including those new to Contact Improv. No previous experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore movement, connection, and play.
We’ll begin with a half-hour embodied warm-up led by Caroline, followed by an hour of themed Contact Improv exploration led by Serena. As the afternoon light softens, we’ll open into a half-hour jam accompanied by mostly ambient music (using silent dance party headphones), dancing together as the sun dips toward the horizon and concluding at sunset.
We’ll close with a short time for integration and settling together.

Where to meet:
We will meet at the water's edge at Seascape Beach, a little south of the main area. There is free public parking at the trailhead to the beach at Seascape Resort (1 Seascape Resort Dr, Aptos, CA 95003). All participants will receive an email with detailed information and photos on where to park and meet. I include a link with Google and Apple Maps right to the parking lot at the trailhead.
Seascape beach is big and beautiful with very few people, so it is an ideal location for a silent dance party. Park at the trailhead and walk down to the beach.
What is the walk to the beach like?
The walk from the parking lot to our spot at the beach will take about 15 - 20 minutes at a leisurely pace. From the Seascape Resort parking lot, the trail starts out as a dirt path and then turns into a paved path for the rest of the way down to the sand.
Timeline:
4:00 pm: Arrive and park. Please begin walking down to our gathering spot on Seascape Beach by 4:10 pm at the latest so you have time to arrive before we begin at 4:30.
4:30 pm: Event Begins with an opening circle, and a playful guided movement warmup, and group activities.
5 pm: Themed Contact Improv exploration
6 pm: Open jam with mostly ambient music, ending as the sun reaches the horizon
6:30ish–6:45: Integration/closing
7:05 - 7:15 pm Back at your car
What to bring:
Water bottle
Warm layers for changing temperatures
Optional towel or blanket for sitting or resting on the sand
A snack if you think you may get hungry
Ticket sales will end at 2 pm on the day of the event to make sure participants receive the email with detailed information and photos on where to park and meet.
