The Women Behind the Wine
Courtney Humiston
Courtney is the founder and winemaker of Delphinium, crafting traditional-method sparkling wine from organically farmed Mendocino grapes. Her experience spans more than 15 years as a sommelier, journalist and winemaker. A BYU graduate, she has maintained Utah as a home base through chapters in New York, California and Oregon, with family still in Salt Lake City.
Piper Underbrink
Piper is the winemaker and vineyard steward behind Sealionne, with an estate in Oregon’s Ribbon Ridge and a portfolio spanning Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. Park City became her home base after college as she moved between Utah and California harvests. The Wasatch remains close to her heart, with many of her closest friends still in Park City.
Kate Payne Brown
Raised in Utah, Kate Payne Brown trained in Australia and France before making Oregon’s Willamette Valley home. She founded Dolores Wines with her husband, Griffin Brown, in 2015, drawing on her experience in Burgundy and Champagne to produce sparkling and still wines from organically grown grapes. Named in tribute to her mother, Dolores reflects her family’s adventurous spirit. Kate also serves as head winemaker at Argyle.
