Early childhood education and care is an essential public service - one that should be safe, high quality, universally accessible and publicly run. But the early childhood sector has become corrupted by big business and shonky operators who put profit above the safety, rights, dignity and potential of children and workers. Join us for a discussion about the crisis facing the early childhood sector and how we can work together to fix it.
Hear from a panel of early childhood professionals and advocates, and ask the questions you want answered about the future of early childhood in Wollongong and across NSW.
WHEN: Monday 9 November 2026 | 6pm - 8pm
WHERE: The Servo in Port Kembla, 6-8 Wentworth St, Port Kembla
SPEAKERS:
Abigail Boyd - Greens NSW MP and Chair of the NSW Early Childhood Inquiry
Malika Reese - MC
Margaret Gleeson - Managing Director, Keiraville Community Preschool
Early childhood professionals have told us time and again what needs to be done, to not only keep children safe and prevent harm before it occurs, but to ensure they receive the quality education and care needed to thrive.
Greens NSW MP Abigail Boyd has worked alongside early childhood professionals, whistleblowers and investigative journalists for over a year to expose what’s lurking below the surface in this broken system and push governments to take action. The Greens are determined to keep fighting for the early childhood sector we deserve - but we need you to be part of this important discussion.
All members of the community are welcome to attend this free event. Early childhood professionals, as well as parents and carers, are particularly encouraged to join us and be part of the conversation.
Please contact the event organiser with any accessibility requests as early as possible so that suitable arrangements can be discussed and organised where possible.
If you are under 18, your parent or guardian will need to contact the event organiser directly to let them know there will be someone under 18 attending.
