Excavations in 2014-15, directed by Lily Hodges, r4evealed a large cemetery of the later 5th to later 7th century, with over 400 inhumation burials with generally good skeletal preservation and a handful of cremations. Many of the buriala were furnished with a range of grave goods including brooches, beads and weaponary.
An 'execution' cemetery with at least 28 inhumations occupied the same area, and may represent a direct continuation of burial practice on the site.
A major monograph is due to be published soon. This paper will introduce the site and its key findings for the chronology of this period, as the high numbers of intercutting graves allowed for detailed stratigraphic analysis.
