About this Event
As we approach Halloween, join us at The McManus for a fascinating talk and tour with our Art Curator. Explore the history of witchcraft in Dundee and examine objects that bring the grisly past to life.
Discover the wider context of the Scottish Witchcraft Act of 1563 and its impact on Dundee and the surrounding area. Following a talk in the atmospheric Victoria Gallery, we'll take a wander around some of the collections that provide a tangible link to the past and present.
Along the way, you'll encounter objects associated with the persecution and control of women, including the grim scold's bridle from the 17th century, as well as a stunning new commission in our new Centre Stage exhibition of Claire Mitchell KC, one of the founders of the hugely important Witches of Scotland campaign.
