This talk will cover beliefs about magic, sorcery, and the occult in Europe and colonial America; bring to light other episodes of witchcraft prosecution in the colonies; and address the final, famous episode in Salem, MA.Bio: Dr. Sara French is a visiting lecturer at SUNY-ESF, historian, and genealogist who has traced her own family heritage back to an accused Salem witch. She is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution where she serves in many capacities, including as a volunteer genealogist. She is a national senior leader for the Children of the American Revolution and belongs to several other lineage societies including the Associated Daughters of Early American Witches.
