About this Event
About the event:
As the culmination of Forest Products Week, UW-Stevens Point’s College of Natural Resources will be hosting a morning of hands-on learning opportunities for high school students in Wisconsin at the Boston School Forest! Activities will be hosted by LEAF - Wisconsin's K-12 Forestry Education Program, the CNR's Forestry Department, the Paper Science Department, Wisconsin Forestry Center, the Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology, WI DNR, and forest industry partners.
Check-in runs from 8:00 am to 8:30 am, with a welcome orientation 8:45 am. From 9:00 am to 12:00 pm students, will rotate through six stations (25 minutes at each station) to discover how Wisconsin’s forests are managed, how trees become everyday products, and how new technology and innovation are shaping the future of the forest products industry. Through interactive activities, students will make connections between forests, science, engineering, sustainability, and the important role forests play in our daily lives.
We encourage groups to bring sack lunches to enjoy in the forest after the morning’s activities!
